The 2010 Champion continued his fast, competitive form to post a very creditable 2:08.8310 lap.

Triple Eight Racing’s Jamie Whincup took pole position ahead of Ford Performance Racing’s Mark Winterbottom and Brad Jones Racing’s Jason Bright.

The Great Race commences at 10:30am tomorrow (Sunday) - please check your local guides for full coverage information via the Seven Network.

James Courtney, #22 Holden Racing Team Holden VF Commodore:

“The car was pretty lively over the shoot-out lap but we managed to come in fifth.

“It’s a pretty good place to start – it’s such a long race and between Murph and me we have extensive experience around this place.

“We’re really looking forward to tomorrow and we’ll be giving it everything we’ve got.”
