Walkinshaw Racing V8 reality TV show hits 7Mate

V8-powerhouse Walkinshaw Racing is set to grab the small-screen spotlight for a different reason beginning this weekend, with the release of half-hour behind the scenes reality series V8 LIFE.

The six-episode series, with the first broadcast nationally this weekend at 1pm on 7Mate, provides viewers with unprecedented access to Walkinshaw Racing – for a true 'fly-on-the-wall' V8 Supercars’ experience.

V8 LIFE will focus on champion drivers Garth Tander and James Courtney of the Holden Racing Team, Bathurst winner Nick Percat from Heavy Haulage Australia Racing, as well as Tim Slade of Supercheap Auto Racing.

The slickly produced show will also delve into the lives of Walkinshaw Racing’s other staff including engineers and mechanics at locations throughout Australia including racetracks, and the team’s headquarters in Melbourne.

V8 LIFE has been established, in part, to attract new audiences to V8 Supercars, says Walkinshaw Racing’s managing director Adrian Burgess, a man responsible for the past four Championships in the sport.

“Our sport is an incredibly exciting one that pits man and machine on the race-track – often at the limit of human endurance.

“However, behind our drivers is a passionate army of people all pushing hard to win – and their lifestyles and personalities equally make for compelling viewing.

“We’re delighted to be involved in V8 LIFE, and can’t wait to hear the response from our fanbase after the first show airs this weekend.”

V8 LIFE co-producer Adam Bailey says the show will bring the fans closer than ever before to their V8 heroes.

"We created V8 LIFE not only to provide a fly-on-the-wall behind the scenes look at the team, but most importantly to focus on the people who are leading unique and exciting lifestyles, as opposed to being a motor racing program.”

“The opportunity to combine reality TV programming and sport is a unique and powerful one that should broaden the audience for athletes and team, without excluding the passionate fans who will love getting to know their heroes better."

Ryan Sanderson, V8 LIFE co-producer, is excited about the content set to hit the screen given the unprecedented access given by Walkinshaw Racing.

"We couldn't have achieved such a real perspective of the operations of one of the most successful sporting teams in Australia, without the close working relationships with not only the team, but also V8 Supercars Television and the Seven Network,” he said.

“We'd like to take the opportunity to thank all involved, and we’re really excited by what's been captured for the series!"

V8 LIFE kicks off this Sunday at 1pm nationally on 7Mate, with five episodes to follow on a monthly basis.
