SPF Danmark A/S, one of the largest distributors of pig products in the world, has reported an average fuel economy saving of 3.4 percent during a field trial using Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic engine and drivetrain lubricants and Mobilube gear oils . In today’s challenging times, Mobil branded lubricants are designed to help truck operators improve the protection and performance of their vehicles, in order to have a competitive edge.
The haulage company, which is based in Southern Denmark, currently operates a fleet of more than 145 vehicles and transports 15 million pigs annually. Based on a recommendation by ExxonMobil Authorised Distributor, OK a.m.b.a, a field trial was initiated as part of SPF Danmark A/S’s ongoing commitment to improving productivity, without compromising environmental care. As part of the trial, SPF Denmark A/S replaced its previous choice of SAE 15W-40 engine oil, SAE 80W-90 gear oil and 80W-140 rear axle with Mobil Delvac 1™ LE 5W-30 engine oil, Mobilube 1 SHC™ 75W-90 gear oil and Mobil Delvac SGO™ 75W-90 rear axle oil.
The fuel economy performance of the Scania test vehicles was monitored over an 8 month period, during which the vehicles travelled over 49,000 km. Weather and operating conditions during the trial were comparable to those during the preceding eight months. The trial results, which were developed using a recognised on-board system CO-DRIVER, indicated an average saving of 3.4 percent versus the previous eight months’ consumption figures. Based on these results, SPF Denmark A/S has now extended the trial to an additional 5 trucks, to investigate if the same fuel economy benefits can be realised when using Mobil lubricants on other OEM models, such as Mercedes Benz and Volvo.
